Brooke convinced her uncle to let her adopt Dennis, and took him home with her. Immediately she put him on a strict diet of dry dog food. Dennis was so fat that he could barely move, so Brooke confined him in a large cage to keep him safe. After Dennis lost ten pounds on his diet, Brooke let him play outside with her other dogs. Slowly the pounds dropped off and after months of dieting and exercise, Dennis could run again.
Now a new problem arose; as Dennis lost weight, his skin became too big for him. Dennis began tripping on the folds of his skin, which caused cuts that became infected. Brooke started a fund to help pay for the thousand-dollar surgeries Dennis needed. After three surgeries, Dennis's skin fit him again, and with all the weight he'd lost, he looked like a different dog! He felt like one too - as he lost weight, he became bossy and playful. Dennis lost a total of 44 pounds, and is now a slim, healthy little dog of twelve pounds - just the weight he should be!
