Picturepolice officers Liu & Ramos
Two unidentified Con Ed (New York's version of Com Ed) utility workers were heroes December 20. New York police officers, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, were just sitting in their squad car. The utility workers saw a black man, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, walk up to the police car, pull out a gun, and open fire at the officers. Not believing what they saw, they immediately left what they were working on to pursue the killer. Brinsley turned around, pointed the gun at them, and asked if they wanted some too. The workers backed off but were able to keep track of Brinsley and get the attention of some policemen. The police quickly found the killer because of the help of those courageous utility workers.
It was found out later that Brinsley just wanted to kill some "white" policemen to avenge the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. The officers killed had nothing to do with killing any black men; in fact, they weren't even white. Officer Liu, 32, recently married, had been on the force for 7 years. Officer Ramos, 40, had two sons and had been on the job for 2 years. Officers Lui and Ramos were heroes in the line of duty to many people and they will be missed!
