Juan Gonzalez, of Waukegan, has been charged with illegal dumping of trash. Apparently, he was taking his remodeling junk and dropping it off at some dead end, just to save a little money. Once the police caught him, he was also charged with possession of drugs and contempt of court for refusing to pay child support.
Illegal dumping has become a huge problem for Waukegan and other cities. I went to the Zion Landfill recently with some construction materials... it was easy and didn't cost that much. Also, Waukegan and Zion residents can bring household trash to the Zion Landfill and dispose of it for free.

♦ The Chicago Tribune's top story in the December 13 edition was about speeding. It was reported that police do not give tickets for anyone going under 75 mph on the interstate. In fact, most motorists will not be pulled over, unless they're doing over 80 mph! The Tribune has let everyone know they can go much faster and make the highways even less safe... and right before winter!

♦ When an ambulance and a pickup crashed in Chicago, on December ninth, John Lara was over 3 times the legal limit and was charged with aggravated DUI. The ambulance did have the siren and emergency lights on but was driving faster than usual... that's because Lara was the ambulance driver! Come to find out, he has been arrested a number of times before for impersonating a police officer, forgery, DWI, and more. Can't we find better ambulance drivers?!

♦ Now for the worst... and this is terribly disturbing. Neal Erickson, a former Michigan school teacher, was found guilty for sexually assaulting a boy for over 3 years! That's not all... many teachers went to court on his behalf to ask the judge for leniency! Thankfully, the judge did not grant their request but sentenced Erickson to the maximum, which he should have. The judge even said the actions and letters of those teachers were appalling, which they were! Finally, in mid-December, the teachers' union wanted to force the school (and taxpayers) to pay a $10,000 severance for Erickson. Are you kidding me!! Who do these people think they are? They're looking like thugs and bullies!
