![]() State Senator Ira Silverstein wants to make it against the law for anyone to smoke in a vehicle which has children in it. Violators, including parents, would be fined $100. Children would have a healthier start to their lives if parents would not smoke around them. But I'm not sure how this law could be enforced - or if it would be enforced. And what would be next, banning smoking in their homes? ![]() ♦ There is good news for people who are concerned with the bald eagle population. These awesome birds were almost wiped out in the 1970's but now are thriving in Illinois - and in record numbers! Doug Stotz, a leading conservationist in Chicago, who is thrilled about the news, said, “They’ve made a pretty impressive comeback." And since their wingspan can reach up to 6 feet, it is pretty easy to spot them. They especially like to be near rivers, like Fox River. The Illinois Audubon Society says, "America’s bald eagle recovery is truly an American conservation success story. And it shows our collective action can and does make a difference!"
