Crazy Taxes!

Did you know there is a higher sales tax on candy in Illinois? Well, not for Whoppers©, because they contain flour. As for nuts, they’re taxed at the lower 1.75% rate... unless they are "honey-coated nuts".
And why are fresh fruits and vegetables taxed at all? I'm sure you know they're not taxed in Wisconsin - there is NO food tax in Wisconsin. But Illinois is not the only state with crazy tax laws. Other states extract taxes wherever they can... read on.

In New York City, people like their bagels. But if you get them sliced you are charged a higher tax because they're "prepared", whereas whole bagels are not taxed at all... unless you eat them inside the shop, then you are taxed. Step outside and... no tax!

Do you like cats and/or dogs? So do the politicians of Durham, North Carolina, because they tax all cat and dog owners, unless you're 65 or older. $10 tax annually on each pet as long as they are spayed or neutered. If not, then you have to pay an additional $75 on each pet (unless your pet has a doctor's excuse!).

In Connecticut, there is no sales tax on Attends, Depends and other adult diapers. What a relief! But children’s diapers are definitely taxed. That would be too much of a revenue loss!
In Alabama they are treating a deck of cards more like a pack of cigarettes. The buyer must pay 10¢, extra tax, on each deck bought.  And the seller must pay $1 on every deck sold... Oh, and the $3 annual license!
It  hurts more now than ever in Arkansas. You have to pay an extra 6% on any tattoos or body piercings - including your ears.
In Colorado, if you can't catch them, join them. Or maybe let them have a joint. Anyone 21 or older can smoke marijuana legally. Now why would they allow that? Because if you can't catch them, you might as well tax them! 15 percent, in addition to the sales tax already in place. Next year the politicians are trying to push it to 30%!

Now  in  New  Mexico  they are letting some people off from paying any income tax  at  all!  Reach a certain age and…  no more taxes.  Oh yeah, the age? 100 years old! Let's see who cashes in on that one !
