In Tucson, Arizona, a woman lost 47 pounds in one day! How did she do that?! Marcey DiCaro thought she was just gaining weight, but doctors told her she had a tumor growing inside her. The surgery was scheduled this past April and took 10 hours! Afterward, staff weighed the tumor... it was 47 pounds! That is the equivalent to 5 large newborns! It took Marcey a while to get going again, but now she is much lighter on her feet.
In Liverpool, England, a 91-year-old man discovered that he had failed to return a book he had borrowed... 61 years ago! Ron Webster was scared but wanted to do the right thing. In England, the fines don't reach a max, but keep accruing. What was the fine? $7,634... and 48 cents! The library staff was amazed but the head librarian forgave him his mammoth debt, and Mr. Webster left, relieved.
What is going on in India? Mani Manithan has been walking backwards - and only backwards - for 25 years! And why? To achieve world peace. It is safe to say that he has not made one iota of a difference... but he has set some records! He is going to continue until he achieves his goal. Well, that means that he is going to continue walking backwards for the rest of his life!
Sukumaran Menon, 75, has been living on bread and water for 4 years to protest the "stealing of his land" by the Indian Government. He will stop when the government changes. I hope he likes bread... because it looks like the government either doesn't know or doesn't care!
