It's a new year! GOOD-BYE 2013 and HELLO 2014! It seems every year for the past several years, I have been concerned about losing weight. I start out fine but soon slip. Last year was the same but I attempted again, in May, and lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks. After that, I plateaued. Then I caught that whooping cough virus in July and got very ill. In August, I injured my leg and was laid up for a month. Not good when you're trying to lose weight. I found myself obese!
But this article is not so much about me but us. Let's get real! Too many people in America are overweight. You yourself, or someone you know personally, is overweight. In America, in 2013, nearly 70% of adults (155 million) are overweight and 37% of those (78 million) are obese . Roughly 32% of children and teens are overweight and 17% are obese. Even among young children (ages 2 - 5), 12% are obese (5 times higher since 1970). Healthcare costs stemming from obesity exceed $150 billion annually right now and will only increase. Those are some alarming numbers!
What are we going to do? Diets do not seem to work for most of us. Exercise and eating right (good food in moderation) does work... that's right, drinking water and eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. That's what I'm going to do! There is only one problem.
I NEED HELP! I don't need a lot of help, but certainly some. I've tried to do this on my own many times with no success. So, what am I going to do? I've signed up for the Thinner Winner contest at Command Fitness. You get unlimited classes for 10 weeks for only $100. Plus you could win that back if you or your team wins. So, if you or someone you know wants in, please call immediately (by January 3rd)! And if anyone wants to be on my team, just ask Lisa or Reuben. Contest starts January 4th! Let me challenge you, whether you sign up or stay at home, to join me in this challenge. I'll keep you posted with the results!
