What should have been a routine veto at the United Nations on December 23, wasn't. For the first time in nearly 40 years, the United States has failed to exercise its veto power in stopping a United Nations Security Council resolution that condemned Israel. In the resolution, which passed 14-0, with the U.S. abstaining, it states that Israel is illegally living in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and must leave their land and give up their homes. Do you know how many people that would affect? Over 575,000 Israelis live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, dating back to 1967.
David Keyes, spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that this "is an abandonment of Israel and an abandonment of a long-standing American policy. This resolution posits (sets in motion) that the Western Wall, one of the holiest sites to Judaism, a place where the Jewish Temple was built, a place where Jews have lived and prayed for literally, thousands of years, is illegally occupied territory. That's absurd! That's delusional! That's immoral!" He's absolutely right! PM Netanyahu said, "Israel rejects this shameful anti-Israel resolution at the UN and will not abide by its terms." They shouldn't! He further said, "The Obama Administration not only failed to protect Israel against this gang-up at the UN, it colluded with it behind the scenes."
The Obama Administration denies that, but it is very obvious that they are lying. Ambassador John Bolton said that this was a deliberate "stab in the back against the Israelis." Netanyahu said that he has proof that "the Obama Administration initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded it be passed." It appears that Obama, Kerry, and company orchestrated the whole deal. A noted liberal, Alan Dershowitz, said that Obama "is acting undemocratically." He said that 88 of 100 senators, the vast majority of Congress, and the American people are against what Obama did... that's including a lot of Democrats.
The top Democrat in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, pleading with Obama to veto the resolution, stated that it was "extremely frustrating, disappointing and confounding." Mike Huckabee said it best, saying, "This is an insult not just to Israel but to every person who loves freedom. Judea and Samaria belong to Israel. This is insane! This is so beyond anything we've seen in 40 years! This doesn't make sense! It is an outrage!" Yes, it is an outrage!
What President Obama and John Kerry have done is despicable! Any respect that I had for Obama and Kerry is completely gone! Talk about sticking it to Israel and Donald Trump at the same time! And just before he leaves office! I'm sorry, but that is cowardice! Obama put his own petty feelings ahead of the country's best interests... that is shameful! How could he do this to Israel, our one true friend and only democracy in the Middle East, when months before he sat back and did nothing, while thousands of innocent women and children were slaughtered in Aleppo, Syria! It's just baffling!
Now that the damage is already done, it looks like this resolution will be hard to reverse. I sincerely hope that President-elect Trump will be able to do something to thwart the plans of these cowards and enemies of Israel. With God's help, he will. The Bible talks about all the nations coming against Israel in the last days. I have always wondered how the U.S. could come against Israel... now I know! All it takes is a progressive globalist to take power of the presidency in the name of change, then side with all the other nations against Israel. Let's hope that will be many years away!
