![]() 9/11 is a very special day for police and firefighters alike. They lost many of their "brothers" thirteen years ago and remembering their fallen brethren is very important - and definitely patriotic. In fact, September 11 has become a very patriotic day for most Americans. One of the simplest ways to honor that fateful day is by displaying the American flag. But on September 9, the Maywood Fire Chief (with influence from some politicians, no doubt) implemented a ban on all stickers... including the US flag! Why?! That's because it might cause offense to someone. What?! We are living in America, aren't we?! If some people living here are offended by the American flag, then tough! Too bad! Deal with it! Some of the Maywood firefighters had patriotic stickers on their helmets and/or lockers. They were ordered to remove them or there would be consequences. None of the stickers were in bad taste and many of the stickers were just flags with no words. Most of the firefighters removed them but some refused, citing sentimental reasons. One removed the stickers from his helmet but left one small sticker of the flag on his locker where only he and his buddies could see it. It didn't matter. He was suspended along with anyone else who still had stickers. This political correctness has gotten crazy! I mean stupid crazy! Any politician that forces a ban of the US flag should be removed from office! And any fire chief should stand up to that politician or step down!
