The top ten gadgets for 2014, according to TIME, are: 10) The Ring Video Doorbell, 9) iPad Air 2, 8) Jawbone UP3, 7) Mophie Space Pack, 6) HERO4 GoPro, 5) iPhone 6 Plus, 4) Oculus Rift Development Kit 2, 3) DJI Phan-tom Vision+, 2) SmartThings Starter Kit, and 1) Apple Watch. I am going to write about two of these wow! gadgets.
Tenth on the list, the Ring Video Doorbell is a little different than the usual new phones and other gadgets, and is fairly affordable at $200. This doorbell system works with your smartphone in some remarkable ways. You can see a visitor outside and talk to them via your phone, without leaving the couch, bed, toilet, or wherever you are in the house! You can tell the visitor to "come in", "hang on a minute", or "sorry, I'm not interested." Or you could see who it is and say nothing at all!
#1 on the list is the Apple Watch, starting at $350. It's basically a small computer on your wrist that looks sleek, but can only work with an iPhone. It has texting and email capabilities, GPS, a fitness app and other apps, but it is still limited in what it can do, compared to a smartphone. Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) does not think much of it, calling the Apple Watch "a luxury fitness band." Would-be buyers are still waiting for it to be available, even though Motorola, Samsung, Sony, and others have had their "smart watches" on the market for some time, selling for $250 or less!
